Why us

The best learning experiences

At Parke National School we recognise the importance of extra curricular activities for our students.

We cater for this by providing a wide range of activities that pupils can sign up for and get involved with whether it be sports, computers or taking part in our chess club.

Chess

We recognise the importance of chess in developing our pupils critical thinking skills, communication skills, sportsmanship and wellbeing. Pupils regularly play chess and are affiliated with FIcheall Ireland. We enter tournaments with other primary schools and pupils also play chess online.

Digital Learning

Our classrooms are all equipped with Smartboards/ Clevertouch Boards and our pupils engage in digital learning daily using I-pads and laptops. Their digital learning is incorporated into all curricular areas.

GAA & Soccer

Pupils participate in the Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic, Mini 7s and FAI 5 a side soccer competitions annually.

Gymnastics

Pupils from Junior infants to 6th class participate in a six week course of gymnastics each year with “ Kids In Motion “ in Castlebar.

Swimming

All pupils from Junior Infants to sixth class take part in swimming lessons each year in the final term.

Tennis

Pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th class have tennis lessons in Castlebar tennis club in term 3 each year

Chess Club

Chess club has many benefits and the game itself is a great way to exercise the brain as well as build on your social skills.

GAA & Soccer

With Parke GAA a stones throw away it always at the heart of our school and community. Sports clubs are a great way to develop teamwork, strengthen bonds and much much more.

Digital Learning

Digital Learning is a huge part of daily life in the modern age. Our students engage daily with digital learning through our Smartboards, I-Pads and as early as infants we start out with our Beebots Coding Program
